UCIPD CAREs Drop-In Group

This group is a collaboration between the UCI Police Department and UCI Campus Assault Resources and Education (CARE), the University’s source for information and support related to sexual assault or intimate partner violence.  The group takes place one day each month, except on rare occasions in which University holidays may interfere in the planning of a group.

UCIPD CAREs was designed as a place where students, faculty and staff can drop in to ask questions or to gather information about reporting options related to intimate partner violence and sexual assault.  It was developed in response to a growing awareness that people may want to seek information without committing to a course of action or may feel uncomfortable contacting law enforcement directly.  It is important that all individuals be informed about reporting options, and in this group participants can obtain answers to their questions about reporting or get responses to real or hypothetical scenarios.  The group will be led by a representative of UCI Police Department and a representative from UCI Campus Assault Resources and Education (CARE).  This safe space provides an opportunity to learn about different options for participants or their loved ones, while allowing participants to make their own decisions about next steps to pursue.

Should a participant decide to file a report after participating in the group, he or she may do so, but this is not a requirement of group participation.

CONFIDENTIALITY: It is important that every person who participates in the group respect the confidentiality of all other members.  By participating in the group, each participant agrees that he or she will not share any information within the context of the group environment.
