Housing Liaison Officer Program

The UCI Police Department Housing Liaison Officer is tasked with providing an open and on-going channel of communication between the University's housing communities and the police department. Those housing areas, which include both graduate and undergraduate communities, are Verano Place, Palo Verde, Arroyo Vista, Campus Village, Mesa Court, Middle Earth and the new Vista Del Campo complex.

Duties of the position include attending housing staff meetings, coordinating special presentations and providing relevant safety information to the members of the community. In addition, the liaison officer will seek information and input from community leaders as to the specific and varying needs of each housing area and will work with those leaders to ensure that the principles of "Community Policing" are best utilized.

Regular communication is essential in the performance of these duties and officers assigned as liaisons make contact with each community on a monthly basis at minimum and often more frequently. Officers also spend additional patrol time in their respective areas in an effort to meet more of the residents and get a better feel for the day-to-day activities in each community.
